A 5-month old baby died in China’s Nanjing Children’s Hospital while the doctor was playing a game online, an investigation has found
The baby boy was taken to the hospital last Tuesday with a serious eye infection which led to swelling inside the skull.
The baby was doing fine in the afternoon but his condition worsened and he died about 1.30am the next day.
Computer experts later found the ophthalmologist, Mao Xiaojun, had been playing a game of ‘Go’ online, health officials said Thursday.

Mao will be sacked from the hospital and his medical certificate will be cancelled. All other on-duty staff will be punished.
The incident came to light after someone posted a report on the Internet condemning Mao and the hospital, alleging that he was playing online games.
The hospital had initially said that Mao was busy writing his thesis that night.
Health officials, however, launched their own investigation.
“Mao lied to us a few days ago,” Li Shaodong, director of the healthcare reform office of the Jiangsu health department, told China Daily.
“He admitted to playing the game of ‘go’ online after our computer experts checked out evidence on his computer.”
He said Mao did not follow hospital regulations and his sluggish attitude toward patients led to the boy’s death.
The Jiangsu health department said on Wednesday that the hospital was responsible for the baby’s death as its workers did not recognize the baby’s serious condition and failed to give him timely treatment.
The hospital refused to make a statement yesterday and the victim’s family was not available for comment.
The incident has focused attention on negligence and malpractice in hospitals.
On Tuesday, officials at Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center at Sun Yat-sen University said that three of 10 patients who underwent procedures to correct myopia, or nearsightedness, on Oct 21 became infected because the center had used the same laser machine for experiments on animals.
Since 2002, more than 10,000 lawsuits over medical disputes have been filed in China each year. Health experts have called for medical staff to improve their skills, and for quicker healthcare reforms.

Video games do kill people wtf. China has one of the biggest online game community if I’m not mistaken. I’ve read somewhere that because of the one-child policy China has, most of the kids there grew up under a lot of pressure to achieve, and when some of them can’t fulfill the expectations given to them, they turn to online games. I have a habit of updating events that happen approximately one week ago =_=
So last Friday went to Sungai Kanching with two of my ‘colleagues’ because we were feeling random, our maybe our work place is depressing that we need to get away asap =_=
Sungai Kanching is actually not too far from FRIM, and compared to FRIM its so so much better! U get to jungle trek and see lots of nice waterfalls, compared to the tiny pond u have in FRIM. Besides, the ticket is just RM 1 per person and RM2 per car if I’m not mistaken.
Kinda hard to take when its hovering and moving about, this is the best I managed to take and I like it
Along the way u can find these pondoks, which unfortunately aren’t very well maintained, but heck it looks so ancient and it’s very photogenic xD

For the rest of the trip I was too busy chilling in the waterfall so didn’t bother to take any more pics 
If ur planning to go there, one thing’s for sure.. Ur gonna have to bring ur swim suit/extra clothes! coz ur definitely gonna get wet if u cant resist taking a dip into the cooling water from the waterfalls
And try not to bring any food there coz u’ll need to go through a whole bunch of monkeys to get to the top =_=
Let’s admit it, the first part of the video the things it mentioned was very true, especially the ‘apathetic and lethargic’ part which I find is extremely true! Some of the things mentioned there are really going to happen if we, the people of generation Y, do not stand up and do something about it.

Feels like weekends are so hard to come by these days, gosh that’s all I can think of when I want to blog, I’ve been complaining about shortage of weekends a lot these days, I guess it’s just the stress of working life knocking on my door. It suddenly dawned on me that it’s only 6 more months until I graduate! I felt like it wasn’t long ago when I was standing on the busy streets of The Curve staring up the sky and recording the New Years fireworks and having a severe neck pain for facing upwards for too long.
As I’m currently doing my internship, I’ve started to appreciate my weekends more and more. Weekends used to be just for doing assignments most of the time, but now, not only I have to worry about my thesis; now I have to worry about getting a life!
Before internship, life mainly revolve around university events and what nots, but now I don’t go back to Uni that often anymore =\ Without the university-life in my daily routines, life became so much more dull! And lately I’ve always been finding reasons to go out, instead of just staying at home doing my thesis. I guess what i’m trying to say here is, now not only do I have to worry about writing a good thesis write-up, I have to worry about getting a life! I can’t stand the thought of entering my early 20’s/young adulthood always busy doing assignments and missing out on life… A few years from now I’ll most probably be working a 9 hour a day job 5 days a week, and I certainly don’t want to be the kind of people who have a fixed routine in their life every single week, complain about life and how much it sucks and at the same time feel sorry for themselves.
I guess this internship is more than a course requirement for me, I’ve learnt so many things about others, myself, and what are my goals in life. I feel like I got a lot to say but I guess it’s better to save it for another entry
Today I went to Bukit Cahaya and tmr I’m going out again woohoo! to my dear supervisor, don’t worry I will finish what i’m supposed to finish by Thursday Y_Y
Apparently my internship comes with a job hazard that I totally did not foresaw when I decided to work at where I am now.
For the past whole month I’ve been working there, there have been many clients coming in and out of the centre. And I suppose some of them brought some unwanted stuffs with them when they came out from prison, some kind of skin prob that makes ppl’s skin VERY itchy!
Now I have very bad rashes in most parts of my body and I’m using medicated soaps and talc powders to ease the itchiness X_X
So if u see me scratching myself please pardon me wtf *scratch scratch*
