First of all, this is not going to be an entry about ‘ooooh the world is going to end what are you going to do on the last day of your life yadi yada’
A lot of people watched the movie and go all into crazy-environmentalist-emo mode about how the world is going to end and one week after that, they go all into crazy-sparkling-emo-vampires mode. Yeah that’s how sad humanity is wtf. Though I believed there is a good intention behind making the movie 2012, which is to remind us about taking care of mother nature yadi yada. But I think the whole movie sort of loses its meaning like, I don’t know, half an hour into the movie? wtf
*warning mild spoilers ahead*
In case you haven’t noticed, there’s a total of THREE scenes of planes taking off from the runway when the whole place is falling apart.
No.1
No.2
No.3
which is in yellowstone park, can’t find the picture but you get the meaning >_>
I mean, seriously do we have to be reminded THREE times about how dangerous it is to fly a plane when the whole place is falling apart wtf?
We have been warned wtf
All this is accompanied by lots of nice special effect of how big cities would be destroyed by huge tidal waves and how Obama would stay behind and die with the people, probably out of guilt wtf. I think all this instant death scenes of tidal waves sort of sends out the wrong message to the audience about how the world will end. The end of the world most probably won’t come in huge tidal waves or earth restructuring or volcano eruptions.
Our world will end in a slow and torturous rate. Starting with global warming, mass deforestation, uncontrolled urbanization, and rise in sea levels. All this would then lead to drought, increased temperature leading to inability to grow crops, rise in sea levels will reclaim coastal towns and cities, diseases will flourish under high global temperatures, food chains will be disrupted due to extinction of animal species, loss of agriculture would lead to starvation, malnourishment and unemployment, unemployment would lead to poverty and crime, these would lead to higher cost for the government to maintain, there will be a shortage of resources (especially petroleum), when resources run out, economies will collapse, and our currency will no longer have any value. Once all this happen the civilization will descend into chaos and anarchy. Now, THAT”s how the world will end, you think you can get away with all those problems so easily wtf? All your problems will be swept clean by a tidal wave? No way man, we’re gonna die a slow and painful deathhhh wtf . All those things that I just mentioned are already occurring, and they are only going to get worse in the next 20 to 30 years to come.
I’m sure we all have a basic idea of what will happen if humanity continues in its direction its going now, but lately I’ve watched a very englightening movie/documentary about how earth will change in the next several decades to come. The movie is called Earth 2100 and it tells a fictional (or non-fictional, who knows) story from a perspective of one woman in the world we live in, and how the world will change in the next few years.
I definitely recommend this movie to anyone who is not oblivious to the changing world that we live in, and would wish to learn more about environmental issues. Before you close this page and click on Facebook, know that our world will not stay this way forever, please do not take our environment for granted.
The world is coming to an end, not in 2012, not by tidal waves or earth quakes, but by our very own hands and in the few decades to come. The least we can do is to be aware and try our best to live an environmentally friendly lifestyle. There’s a lot that can be done if we are aware of the problems…
Mother earth is getting tired, and it’s time for her children to take care of her =)
