Rethink aid to Chinese areas, says Perkasa

By Adib Zalkapli

KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 — Malay rights group Perkasa wants the Barisan Nasional (BN) government to review election pledges made in Chinese areas in Hulu Selangor because of the community’s poor support for the coalition.

Its president Datuk Ibrahim Ali (picture) said despite BN’s success in winning the semi-rural seat from PKR, the Chinese voters had largely chosen to back the federal opposition.

“It is necessary for the government to delay any allocation and approval of projects for the Chinese community,” said Ibrahim in a statement responding to the by-election result.

Ibrahim added that the government should also ignore all the demands made by BN members, MCA and Gerakan, as the Chinese of Hulu Selangor had rejected the ruling coalition.

“They show no appreciation to BN government’s efforts, even though the BN government had to hurt the feelings of the Malays and the natives,” said Ibrahim.

“All their demands are fulfilled by the government but they do not know how to be grateful,” he added.

Ibrahim, an independent MP, had actively campaigned for BN during the campaign.

His Perkasa is fighting for affirmative action policies favouring Malays to be retained permanently.

In the by-election which saw BN’s P. Kamalanathan defeating former Law Minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim by 1,725 votes, the ruling coalition lost badly in Chinese dominated polling districts.

During the final campaigning days for the Hulu Selangor by-election Datuk Seri Najib Razak promised an allocation of RM3 million for a Chinese school near in new village.

The BN chairman also promised RM90,000 for the Ulu Yam Kwang Tung cemetery and more allocations for Hokkien and muhibbah associations in the area.

However the support level from the Chinese voters was reduced from about 35 per cent in Election 2008 to less than 30 per cent yesterday.

BN’s victory was guaranteed by strong support from the Malay-dominated Felda settlements and villagers in rural Hulu Selangor.

Ibrahim said the outcome showed that the pro-Malay affirmative action policies should be maintained.

“BN must now keep the Malay happy as they have been loyal to BN. Therefore the affirmative action policies to strengthen the Malays and the natives must be maintained and implemented thoroughly,” he said.

The BN’s victory Ibrahim added was also sign of public’s acceptance to Najib’s leadership.

“The people have begun to understand all the confusion and propaganda from Anwar and his colleagues and I am confident this is the start of the process for the people to return to the idea of upholding national stability,” he said.

Ibrahim who stood as PAS candidate in Election 2008 had been in Hulu Selangor since the start of the campaign period to ensure victory for Kamalanathan.

He had said that he backed the MIC information chief instead of Zaid who is a Malay because Kamalanathan’s views on the Federal Constitution is consistent with Perkasa.”

The news is so cliche it makes me wonder about its validity wtf. The fat man is not directly linked to BN but he is an independent MP who campaigned for BN, so same kind of scum la. Good news is, majority of Chinese didn’t fall for Najis’ 3 million bribe to build a Chinese school! According to statistics there’s even lesser Chinese voting for BN compared to the last general election. This can be a good sign, because maybe Chinese voters are seeing past the election ‘gifts’ that dirty politicians always give during elections, perhaps we are slowly starting to notice the importance of voting for representatives that can protect our rights, instead of just showering us with projects after projects that only provide us with materialistic gains.

Lim Kit Siang’s blog mentioned several other reasons for the possible cause for losing Hulu Selangor, it just goes to show how different races have different demands in a MP… Hopefully they will cooperate with one another better next time =\ At the end of the day, there are reasons to believe the 1Malaysia concept was never the reason why people voted for BN, but instead its still the basic campaign tactics representatives use that play the more influential role…

Daylight Bribery

I’m feeling rather disappointed right now because the Hulu Selangor by election results are out.. and BN won… wtf man seriously.  I guess it is true, Najib’s 1Malaysia concept is working… IMO, it’s working to distract the people from the shit that they have done in the past. Read this article…

New RM3mil building for Chinese students and land for Hindus

KUALA KUBU BARU: A Chinese school in Rasa received an unexpected RM3mil allocation, while a Hindu temple in Kalumpang was promised the piece of land it was illegally built on, during the Prime Minister’s visit here.

Although the 81-year-old SRJK (C) Rasa was not in the list of Chinese schools that would receive government allocation under the second economic stimulus package, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said he could not ignore the community’s appeal for a new building.

“I hear you loud and clear, and now I am pleased to announce an immediate allocation of RM3mil for a new building.

“I would like to see it constructed on this same site, nowhere else but here,” he said, when meeting some 200 parents and students of the school near here yesterday.

Wooing voters: BN candidate Kamalanathan with Chinese voters at the ‘Sarapan 1Malaysia’ programme at Kampung Gumut in Kalumpang yesterday.

Also present was MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.

Najib later visited Kampung Melayu Rasa where he performed zohor prayers with villagers, and told them to remain focused and not be distracted by issues and allegations raised by the Opposition.

At another function earlier, Najib handed a letter of undertaking to the Seri Maha Mariamman Temple in Kalumpang, promising to allocate it the piece of land on which the temple was illegally built.

The temple committee’s request was relayed to Najib by the Malaysian Association of Indian Chamber of Commerce president Datuk K.K. Eswaran during his visit to Kampung Gumut.

The committee had made several attempts to secure the land but was unsuccessful.

Najib, in his brief speech, said he had given the residents what they wanted and they must reciprocate by voting for Barisan Nasional.

What pissed me off the most is this statement

“Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said he could not ignore the community’s appeal for a new building. “

I hear you loud and clear, and now I am pleased to announce an immediate allocation of RM3mil for a new building.”
Seriously? if it weren’t for the brain aneurysm of the late MP of Hulu Selangor,  Najis wouldn’t have gave two flying fuck about what happens to a CHINESE SCHOOL in a constituent controlled by PR. This is plain and simple BRIBERY happening right in front of our eyes and ears. To quote from Lim Kit Siang’s blog:

“Najib publicly declared: If we win this by-election, you can come to Kuala Lumpur the next day to look for me. I will write a personal letter to approve the money and it will be transferred to the school board’s account. If we lose, don’t have to come.”Taken from HERE.

This is said by the PM of Malaysia, heck if u think Lim Kit Siang made that up, fine Najis probably didn’t say that. But to bribe voters by promising development and ONLY doing it to win votes (obviously), well, that’s the PM of Malaysia for you. Nothing but a common politician who knows all kinds of dirty tricks a politician should know. I wouldn’t be surprised if some good-for-nothing politician said that out of desperation to win votes, but the head of our country, going SO low just to win an election? I’m not gonna whine about how unfair life is, but seriously this guy is our country’s leader? I feel so ashamed to be a Malaysian.

Perhaps this bribery is not the main reason why BN won the by-election, I don’t know, maybe the ex-MP didn’t do a good job, maybe Zaid wasn’t a good enough candidate, maybe the people thought from all the ads about 1Malaysia, maybe BN is changing for the better? Maybe the people should give BN a chance? Well IMO, some people don’t deserve a second chance. They’re like a tumor, you have to keep fighting it until it dies, you don’t stop fighting because you think its getting better, a tumor is a tumor, you should get rid of it once and for all, show the tumor you’re the boss.

Hopefully the next general election things will change for the better, so whoever just turned 21, please GO AND REGISTER YOURSELF. Your vote counts! The voter turn out at Hulu Selangor was only 70% and BN won by a majority of 1725. If the 30% who didn’t vote came out to vote today, the ending could have been different for Hulu Selangor, and the same goes to any election! So please go and register, it REALLY takes only 10 minutes, I registered myself a few weeks ago and the whole thing was so done so fast I didn’t even notice!

Streets of KL

Ever since my internship, I’ve never looked at KL the same way I did before. Even though what I’ve seen is just the tips of the iceberg, but I think it’s enough to convince me that KL is not as ‘developed’ as most people think it is. Somewhere below those high sky scrapers and million dollar eye sores lies the real KL..

Hopefully someday I’ll be brave enough to venture into the real back alleys of KL to get some real photos…
